The adventures in The Hague, and more!

I had a precious couple of days.
As I said, I was in The Hague, the city
of my roots, the city of my family.
My sweet mom came to pick me up with her
super fast sports car and I loved being
in the car with her because that woman...
that woman can drive! And she gave me a
super cute present!

A vintage real silver deer brooch, I love it!!!

We were staying in my brothers home with his
two adorable cats while he's baking in the sun
with his girl Nina in Turkey. I had a lovely
photoshoot with one of his cats 'Keesje'.

Don't you just love that little spot on her nose :)?

The other kitty 'Whiskey' is such a doll as well.
I'm very sad to announce that we saw her last on
Monday evening :'(... We are still waiting for her
return. The two of them are allowed on the roof and
she must have jumped off. We searched the roofs from
top to bottom, the nearby gardens, posted notes about
her and called animal shelters. I am so sad about
it and even more for my brother and Nina who return
next Saturday. My mom just called that she was spotted
in the neighbourhood!!!!
They will go on a second search tomorrow. I really hope
they find her, at least before Saturday...

Another animal story, with luckily already a happy
ending is that my mom and I found a little bird who
looked a little...lost. We could come very close to
the little fellow but everytime we almost catched him
he flew away. We were sure he wasn't your ordinary
little bird so we kept on trying and eventually succeeded
with a bag borrowed from a very funny and cute old lady
who insisted we used it. And he flew right in it!
In the same street as we found him was a pet store
and we took him up there. With one peek in the bag
the owner immediately said; 'this is a tropical bird,
a Japanese seagull to be exact'. I didn't have my
camera with me but this is what they look like:

Except this one was was really tiny.
The pet store owner put him in a cage together
with other tropical birds and he began to eat some
seeds and calmed down. I was so happy :)! We almost
decided to take him home since he 'came on our paths'
but decided it was best for him after all to stay there.

My mom and I did a lot of shopping! The Hague is a
great shopping city with a lot of thrift shops as well
as cute 'regular' stores.
I always go to one of my favourite stores 'Wwen' in
the 'Prinsestraat', ofcourse I didn't come out
empty handed ;). Here's my mom posing on a
really cute bench I totally want!

When my mom and I go shop together she almost
never let's me pay. I love her so much for that ;)
and for my new shoes, she got a pair as well:

Tuesday evening I had a 'hand reading' from a
talented lady. She said really helpful things
and while I'm not sure if I believe in the super
natural kinda stuff, I would really like too and
she made me come a step closer to believing.
While looking at my hands with a big magnifying-glass
she told me I had sensitive oval hands which means that
I'm a person who cares a lot for others and 'feels what
they feel'. Also that I have an eye for beauty, am very
good with children, and giving warmth. She said more
things but they were really personal. All in all it was
a very special experience!

Wednesday we hooked up with my dad and brothers in the
park, and I managed to get some good pictures of my
never sitting still brothers ;).

Oops! I was caught on tape too!
Unfortunately with my eyes closed :p

This is getting a really long post...
But there is a little more to tell though!
When I came home in a really clean house (my boyfriend
is a cutie, he is now complaining that I should write
an entire paragraph about how awesome he is :p)
I had mail! A while ago I won a giveaway
over at Puglypixel and today it arrived!

So gorgeous! Be sure to pay a visit to her new Etsy shop!

Funny detail; I found a same sort of piggy as
in her pictures while thrifting in The Hague :D!

Phew, time to end this post!
I'll be back ;)!

Love,
Nikki

Stats Sunday

Hello lovely ladies (and gentlemen?)!
It's time for stats Sunday!
I've been cleaning the house like crazy
the past week. We go on vacation the 2nd
of august and I always like to leave- and
come back in a clean house :).

Yesterday I wasn't feeling well, had a bit of
a rough night. So I watched a movie; 'The Runaways'.
It tells the story of Joan Jett (the first girl to
rock!) and her first band 'The Runaways'. It wasn't
a happy all the time movie but it had really cool
scenes :)!

And today...
Today I'm leaving for The Hague for a couple of
days, spending time with family. I'm getting
picked up in about an hour and won't come back
till Wednesday. So on that note; inspiration
Tuesday will transfer to Thursday again this week :).
And the Doodley Doo I usually post on Monday, will
be posted....
Now! :)

The theme was 'I could use a nap'!

I experimented with watercolours and photoshop this time,
and I was inspired by how my kitties can nap all day.
Did you know you can click on the image to view it bigger?

Well I have to prepare a couple of things before I leave
so it's goodbye now :)! Seeya guys Thursday I think :)!

Nikki

Scrap Saturday

I found an old picture of my mom and dad!
My mom was 26 years old when this
picture was taken :)! A couple years
later I was born.

I also wanted to share that there is a Sale at
King Louie :D!This is one of
my favourite Dutch clothing brands due to their
romantic style.

Against my plans to save more money for when I'm
on vacation I just had to buy the white cardigan...
It came in the mail yesterday and I love it!
No regrets so far ;)!

love for you to take a look at their work:

Stats Sunday

Oh my, it's already time for stats Sunday...
I'm afraid this week was yet another lazy
one though :( so not much to tell.

The boyfriend also has vacation now, a good 6
weeks! He works as a teacher so when the kids
have their summer break, he's free too, yay!
It's nice to have him home and do weekly
routine stuff like groceries together.

I worked on a 'sweet swap' and 'stuffed envelope'
swap. I also made an adorable pencil-role. A fabric
role to put pencils or pens in, you know what I mean?
I made it out of vintage vinyl that used to serve as
a playmat for children.

I really enjoyed making it :) and recycling is so awesome!
Let's see.. what else did I do..
Oh, I've been taking care of my neighbour-friend's kitties
for the last week while she was on vacation. Her kitties
are a bit shy but I really bonded with them <3.
I dyed my hair red.
I watched 4 new episodes of True Blood.
Aaand I think that was about it ;)!

Scrap Saturday

About a year ago I went to a darling little
town in the Netherlands called 'Mook'.
I went there with my two sweet friends Lucia
and Cherry! Cherry's parents own a little
selfmade (!) bungalow house on a camping there
and the three of us spend a couple of days
chilling and having girls only fun :)!

Sadly the weather wasn't at it's best,
but we could still enjoy the pretty nature
and to my joy; there were horses :D!
All in all a very precious and fun
memory, that needed to be scrapped about :)!

Doodley Doo - Why don't you?

I used to draw a lot in the old days.
My Grandpa was a fantastic painter and my Mom still is.
I'd like to think that perhaps I got a teensy bit of the
talent too :). I dug up some old drawings for fun and
scanned them! Let's have a look :)!

My first 'human beings' at the age of 3:

And here are some fisshies from when I was 5 or 6,

I think the fish with the hearts above his head is
supposed to be 'Flounder', I was obsessed with
Ariel the little mermaid at this age:

I really want to pick up the drawing again and

find out if I can find my own style.
I entered Ittybittybirdy's weekly art challenge
'doodley doo, why don't you?' and my first
drawing since ages is ready to be published :)!
The theme is 'Flamingo Summer'! Here goes nothing:

Let's hope I keep it up, I'd sure like to :)!

Stats Sunday

What a week!
We had really cold winter, and now a
reaaaally hot summer. Seriously...
I'm not made for this weather! I'm breaking
up with this weather! I hate sunburns on my
milky skin! And the sweat! I hate the sweat!
I'm dripping all day, yuck! The only thing I
like about this weather, is if I go in the sun
a lot, I get freckles. But the last summer I was
in the sun a lot and thus had lot's of freckles was
a good 5 years ago. Wanna see a picture :)?

Omg! I was still in braces :)!

As for this weeks stats...
I didn't do very much, I actually was pretty lazy the
entire week :). I went to see Eclipse with a friend
and read the book 'The vampire diaries' because I was
curious how different it was from the tv show.
I did some photoshop work for a friend's webshop
and...I doodled! But more on the doodle's tomorrow.

Now... The Dutchies are in the fifa worldcup finales!
The Netherlands against spain... who would win?

~ Kitties from the street ~

I always see so many cute cats outside, and I always stop
to pet them. Not every cat wants to be petted unfortunately.
When I was taking a little walk with my lovely, I took my
camera with me to photograph every cat we ran into :)!
So many cute ones! Especially the white one, he came running
up to me when I sat down to pet another cat!!! O how I wish
I could have taken him home...
I'll take my camera with me again next time we're going
for a walk :)!
