Unpacking

A while back I started unpacking in my little headquarters and found many things I forgot I had. Because we live in a pretty small apartment and I'm a pretty big hoarder, lots of things were boxed up in the basement for 'someday'.

While unpacking I was both thrilled and a bit ashamed with my emptying thrift stores behavior of the past years, I'm going to have to get rid of the stuff that absolutely made no sense. But what jewels I found as well! A lot of pretty figurines and china. To think that my basement isn't even half empty yet (and it's a big one)...

I covered up the big storage closet (this one never appeared in photos before) with pink curtains and Ikea's Alvine Spets so the washer/dryer/vacuum cleaner etc. are invisible from now on :).

And filled up my card rack with pretty cards {Liekeland, All the luck in the world, Margo Slingerland}.

I also hung my een nieuw avontuur Pom Pom's :)! They were one of the first things I bought remember? I still need a pretty lampshade though.

Isn't this the cutest ever? Lisa Manuels made it for my birthday, a little deer doll named after me :). You can cut her out and make her into a real doll but I chose to frame her for now. She's going to be for sale in Lisa's shop too if you like her!

My dad is coming over Wednesday to hang and install the last things, after that it'll be as good as finished and I'll make sure to give you a tour :).

About the cake

Thanks everyone for all the warm birthday wishes ! I had a lovely day with family and cute presents. Some of you asked about my little cake so I thought I'd spill the beans :).

This little cake is actually called a 'Tompouce' and I didn't make it myself ;). I did design the top image, which I guess is printed with edible ink on edible paper and attached to the frosting. We have a wonderful store named Hema who provides this service of printing anything you want on a cake, pie or tompouce.

Of course the image will never be as clear as it is on your computer, but I still think it's quite charming, and yummy :)!

So here's a little gift for you! If you want to give it a try and like my design feel free to use it. But only for printing on cake and personal use please ;) it's not meant for blogs/shops or commercial use. I used digital elements from Pugly Pixel and Kitschy Digitals in this design, make sure to visit them, they are lovely.

Moos enjoyed a little nibble too. Silly one.

The Telephone

Since I still haven't been motivated enough to fill up a film for Lomo Saturday (but I ain't quitting, I'm going to soon!) I thought I'd post some instagram shots today, for I have made many. I love playing around with it and seeing my world through squares :).

I should really take feet photo's more often, it could be a nice collection! Bottom left are the highest shoes I've ever owned and I can't really walk on them. But I can stare at them in awe and practice now and then.

I started unpacking in my headquarters and discovered I have so much stuff! Things I even forgot I had! Last week I bought the cardboard kitty hanger at Babongo after reading about their website on Zilverblauw. Isn't it the absolute best? I also developed a gold obsession, it started with gold nail polish and now I want to buy almost everything that's gold. I remember about 6 years ago I had these lovely golden ballerina's which I walked on until there wasn't much gold left on them. I wish for new ones :). What are you wishing for at the moment?

Wonderful

I recently discovered the brand Mint & Berry and I really love their products. So much actually that I already purchased one of their dresses and love it to bits, it wears like a dream!

This picture by Kimberly Ross does something to me, as do her other beautiful photographs.

I have no words for these rings... except maybe WANT! By Vera Balyura.

Sarah McNeil's work is the cutest!

AMAZING garland by Confetti System.

Thrift as if your life depends on it...

Last Friday wasn't the most practical day to go on a thrift trip, the weather was crazy and it was discouraged to go on the road if you didn't have to. However, once you have the itch, the thrift itch, there's only one thing you can do. Thrift as if your life depends on it!

Though it took us nearly two hours to get to the thrift store, and even longer to get back home (everyone was driving very slow due to slippery snow and traffic jams) it was so worth it! Here are some of my favorite finds.

I'm very happy with my bird species book from the sixties, I love birds just like my grandpa (who owned a lot of birds) and the illustrations are very pretty. The other book I found is an adorable crochet book from the eighties with super cute crocheted collars in it. They seem quite difficult to make but I definitely want to give it a try :)!

Floral china is still pretty much the first thing I look for while thrifting, I just can't get enough of it and keep adding new floral patterns to my collection. I also couldn't leave the cute swan cup behind, it's so kitschy I love it!

Knitting needles! Just looking at this rainbow colored bunch makes me smile. The thrift store had 2 huge boxes filled with knitting needles and I nabbed every last colored one out of them. It felt a little sneaky in a nice way ;).

Yep, I have a feeling a new collection is born...

What can I say. It's Bambi, and Bambi is a deer, and he looked so friendly, and I needed him for a Deer a Day and I could go on making more excuses all day long... The hanky is cute too right :)?

And last but not least, pretty vintage beaded necklaces. Have you found some pretty things lately?

White World

Last Saturday I went on a little sunset stroll through our current white wonderland, though I'm freezing my butt off, there's no denying it's pretty!

I just wish it came earlier, like during Christmas! I'm kind of longing for spring and want to put my ugly snowboots in a sealed box under the bed and not take 'em out for a loooong while.

I don't think the ducks and geese mind the cold much, you never know what they might feel but they look comfy in their little ice pool.

Luckily they live on a lake surrounded by family houses so food is not an issue...

And now that I have my white wonderland photos, everything may melt (please?) :). What's the weather like where you live?

In January...

I started my 365 project a Deer a Day. It has been fun so far, I'm really enjoying it :)! Some days when I really have time to think about what kind of photo I want to make, I surprise myself with the results. The photo in the middle is my favorite so far, little Moby stuck her cute nose in the photo just when I pushed the button. I made a deal with myself that after every completed month I get to buy myself a cute deer present ;), the first one came in yesterday.

I finished up some things in my headquarters, it's really coming together and it's almost time to start decorating!

I received the prettiest package with the prettiest bag from Dreumesdromen...

And I finally got an Iphone, + Instagram :)! Addiction alert...

I'm really looking forward to February! It's my birthday month, I'm going to a concert of Eefje de Visser, the musical Wicked :) and I'm hoping to finish my headquarters.
