The Telephone

A small selection of May's instagram faves. Above some recent thrift finds I thrifted at a wonderful fleamarket in the woods of Maarsbergen.

At the fleamarket in Maarsbergen I found camera heaven, at first I didn't know where to look, there were so many beautiful old camera's! I wanted them all, but chose two. The old deer photo's came from one of my mothers old photobooks. I think she was a potential deer hoarder at my age as well :).

I turned this card rack into a giant jewelry holder, it's so nice to hang all my pretty things on it. The card is, as many might know, Pippi. I love her.

Armed with macaroons, I had an old fashioned sleep over with the sweetest girls on earth, it was lovely. The bird medals belonged to my grandfather, I found them again while cleaning up.

I suddenly felt like grouping these deer sketches by 'Cocky' and 'H. van Meegeren'. They're vintage and I sometimes run in to one in thrift stores or at flea markets. I hope to one day fill an entire wall with them :)!

Oh Deer.. I found a new figurine at Feito Com Amor, and the butterfly and suitcase as well.

Last weekend Joris and I explored nature in Allardsoog. Aren't those caterpillars amazing? There were thousands of them, all in one big tree they claimed as there home. They'll turn in to the Ermine Moth soon.

I love nature...

Lomo Saturday

Some more Efteling snapshots. This roller coaster is named 'The Python', I went in it only one time in my life when I was about 13 or 14 and got a bit of a panic attack. I was so frightened while going up knowing I was about to go upside down whether I liked it or not. After that I never went again, just not my thing I guess.

I don't mind watching though, I actually find it quite entertaining.

This cute little dragon doesn't frighten me though, especially since I had my own 'Sint Joris' with me. Do you know George and the Dragon? The story is about Saint Joris, and Joris is translated to George in English :).

Look at him go with his imaginary sword, fighting for my life, adorable ;).

Dress Up #17

When I first discovered the work of Supayana and Olivia Mew via my friend Kelly I was instantly smitten!

Yana makes these amazing tops by hand and you can really see and feel the quality. And the cat illustration, isn't it the best? Yana collaborated with Olivia Mew who makes more beautiful illustrations like this one.

I actually wanted to photograph this outfit in the woods, but I just couldn't wait to show you anymore and it's finally warm enough to wear it, so I took some quick photos in my headquarters :).

Lomo Saturday

In Holland we have a wonderful fairy tale theme park named 'The Efteling'. When I was little I went there a lot, nowadays I still quite love it and hope to visit it someday with my own children. A couple of weeks ago I went there with Joris and his family and took photos with the Olympus Trip and Praktica mtl3.

This is the Troll King. I am very fond of him, he makes me laugh :).

There were a lot of photos on the praktica film with white and red blurs on the side. I have no idea how it happened, but it looks nice :). I'll be back with some more Efteling shots next Saturday!

Party for one

Sometimes, there's nothing better than a little party for one. Just sitting down with tea and sweets, enjoying the moment.

Or a party for four if you count my - eager for a piece of cupcake - kitties.

Dress Up #16

Hello! I'm still here! I was in my headquarters today shooting clothes to sell, when I thought, why not do a little dress up again?

It sometimes scares me a little how much h&m I'm wearing. Like today, my top, skirt, ribbon, hairflower and earrings are from h&m. The lovely brooch is from Made by White and my necklace is thrifted.

How do you like my wonderful deer print made by Oana Befort? I did show it on a Deer a Day last week, but had to show it here too because it's so beautiful. I'm in love with all her work and she just opened up a shop so it's pretty difficult to withhold myself from buying everything, especially everything deery :)...

Lomo Saturday

My first Olympus Trip photos. Taken in a thrift store in Dordrecht. Unfortunately the other photos taken there were black, but I love these ones so that makes up for it :).

Frutsel's mouse

Her number one favorite toy. When she plays with it she breaks down our house... But she does so anyway, and yet we keep loving her.

Ata Kandó

A couple of weeks ago I went to a second hand book market in a church nearby. A year ago I went there and found these. This year I found a very special book with photo's by Ata Kandó.

I had never heard of her, but while searching the internet I found out she is a pretty special woman, originally from Hungary, but she lived most of her life in the Netherlands.

This book 'Dream in the forest' contains photographs of her children taken in Switzerland and Austria.

The photographs are beyond beautiful and are like a fairy tale, yet very real at the same time.

The book was published in 1957, with text from her then 14 year old son.

Ata Kandó's work inspires me a lot, I'm cherishing this book for ever and I hope to find more work from her hand.

Please visit her website to find out more about this interesting woman!

In April...

When I started these monthly reviews last year in august, I was blogging a little more than I am now. Still I really like doing these posts, although you might think 'haven't I just seen this before?' it's really nice to click the monthly review tag and have a summary of what I've been up to. Every month you see little changes in me and my blog. Speaking of change, I've been experiencing the blog design itch again. You might have noticed I switched the posts and side column, but I'm afraid it ain't enough ;). Though I've been keeping quite busy, so I doubt there's going to be a new design soon.

In April a Deer a Day turned 100 days old. Here are some of my April favorites. It does get harder, this project. I've had some days I didn't really feel like it, but I'm trying to continue because I would love to see how it develops and finish it.

I haven't been in my headquarters a lot in April, which is pretty silly because I LOVE being there. So in May, I plan to be there more often :).

I'm so happy with my Praktica, it's such a lovely camera. I recently thrifted an Olympus trip 35, I'm shooting with it now, no idea if it works. I hope to show the results soon in Lomo Saturday.

Dresses, oh dresses... Now that the weather is getting warmer I'm more dresses obsessed than ever :). I feel like doing Dress Up posts again. I might even do one in May ;)!
